We are full members of the C.M.M.A. It is a National Supporting Body for all Martial Arts.

It's aim as a Martial Arts organisation with several thousand members and affiliates throughout England, Scotland, Wales, Northern and Southern Ireland is to "bring all Martial Arts together in a fair and open minded manner and as such the C.M.A.A. recognises all Styles, Systems and proven Grades".

In 2008 I had the great honour of being nominated for the Molum Combat Arts Honor Society.

Quote: "The Molum Combat Arts Honor Society was developed to recognize the contributions of students and instructors of the Molum Systems based on Loyalty, Integrity, Charity, Setting the Example, Leadership, and the will to continue in adverse situations. The Instructors and Students are considered to be the Closest Students to the Masters and Disciples of the Martial Arts (Note: this is not a Religious Affiliation), and true followers of the Martial Way of Honor.

Discipleship: JAP SUK DAI JI: Master's Closest Student.

Discipleship is not a Rank it is an honor bestowed upon the receipiant for Loyalty, Honor and Integrity."

The nomination went before the board and I was both thrilled and humbled to be accepted.

I recieved the Molum Combat Arts Honour Society badge, which I wear with pride on my favourite Judo jacket.

WELCOME

We are a friendly, family run, Judo based Martial Arts Club.

We teach non-competition style Judo mixed with a little Jujitsu and Personal safety.

We believe our Judo should be for everyone that is prepared to train within our rules and under the governing rules of the C.M.A.A.

Not just the fit or athletically able.

We welcome anyone from age five to Adult.

Dependent on an individual's physical circumstances it is usually possible to structure teaching around the students abilities.

We run sessions on Tuesday and Friday Evenings

19:00hrs (7pm) to 20:30hrs (8.30pm)

But we often run over as we are enjoying ourselves.

Instructor - Paul Holt - Nidan

  • Having been taught, mostly, competition style Judo I noticed how difficult it was for students that were not very fit or athletic, had co-ordination or attention span problems to keep up with the cut and thrust of modern competetive Judo.
  • Believing that Jigoro Kano saw Judo as a method for improving students both physically and mentally I could see that the very people I believed would get most benefit from the training were put off before even getting a real taster of what could be accomplished.
  • So I moved the club away from mostly competition training to a more technique based system more in line with a martial art than a sport. This has had a very positive effect on my existing students.
  • I also believe that a lot of techniques have been adapted and modified to suit competition conditions and rules so I have modified the way I teach some of the techniques.

Our Waza (technique) is based on Kano Sensei's theory. "Maximum Efficient Use Of Mind And Body".

Tsukuri (the action of breaking your attacker's balance) and Kake (the point of the throw or point of maximum power) express this principle. If you can understand and master this principle, which can be applied to all phases of human life you proceed from Waza to Do (the way, the truth, the path).
